How it works

  1. 1

    Get a Clipy recording link

Paste a link to any public Clipy recording, or record a new one with the button above. The recording needs a finished transcript, which happens automatically a short while after upload.

  2. 2

    Generate the summary

Click Summarize. Clipy reads the transcript (and the stored summary and key moments, if they already exist) and drafts a TL;DR, key points, and action items.

  3. 3

    Copy what you need

Copy the key points or action items straight into a ticket, standup note, or message. If nothing changed since the last request, the same result comes back instantly instead of waiting on a new generation.

From a long recording to a short read

Long recordings are hard to skim. This tool turns the spoken content of a Clipy recording into something a teammate can read in a few seconds instead of watching in full.

Pair it with chapters or notes

For a longer recording, try theVideo Chapter Generator to add navigable sections, or theMeeting Notes Generator for a recording that was a discussion rather than a solo walkthrough.

Why summarize from the transcript, not the video

A transcript is the actual record of what was said — timestamps, phrasing, and all. Summarizing from it means the output can be checked against the source instead of trusting a model's guess about what a video 'probably' shows.

What happens without an AI key configured

If AI summarization isn't available, this tool still returns a usable result: the TL;DR falls back to the first few sentences of the transcript (or the recording's existing stored summary, if one exists), so the tool never leaves you empty-handed.

Common questions

Does this work on someone else's recording?

Yes, as long as the link is public, or you have access to a restricted recording and are signed in as the right account. Private recordings you don't own or have access to are refused.

Why did I get a 'transcript not ready' error?

Transcription runs automatically after upload but takes a little time on longer recordings. Wait for the watch page to show the transcript, then try again.

Is the summary the same every time?

For the same recording, yes — results are cached for about an hour so repeat requests don't wait on a new generation. A new recording, or one whose transcript changed, always gets a fresh summary.
