Clipy is a free, no-watermark screen recorder that runs in three places: a native Apple Silicon app for macOS, a Chrome extension for screen, tab, window, and webcam capture, and a browser-based recorder at clipy.online that works without an install. It is built and operated by Codersera.
Every recording produces an instantly shareable link. The viewer never has to sign up to press play. No recording is ever cut short, watermarked, or put behind a viewer signup wall. These are not feature-gating decisions, they are how the product is shaped.
Why does Clipy exist?
Loom and its imitators have quietly turned the basic act of recording your screen into a paid feature. You hit a 5-minute cap. You get a watermark in the corner. Your viewer is asked to sign up before they can watch the thing you sent them. None of that has anything to do with the recording itself; it is friction in a tool that should be invisible.

That history is the reason Clipy isn't a 6-month side project. It isn't a venture-funded experiment that disappears when the runway does. It's shipped, paid for, and maintained by a team that's been doing this for a decade, and intends to keep doing it.
How did Clipy start?
Clipy started as a personal frustration. We were sending short walkthrough videos to teammates and customers every day, and every tool we tried added a paywall, a watermark, or a signup wall on the receiving end. The recording itself was not the hard part; the friction around it was.
We built the recorder we wanted: hit a key, record, stop, share the link. Three surfaces (Mac, Chrome, web) so we could use it wherever we already were. No watermark even on the free flow, because there is no other flow.

Is Clipy free?
Yes, and it is not a trial. The core record-and-share flow is free with no time limits, no watermark and no signup wall for viewers, and AI titles, summaries, transcripts and the agent-readable AREC document are free too. Clipy added a paid Pro plan in mid-2026, and it gates exactly three things: 4K recording, whole-library Loom migration, and end-of-video calls to action. Nothing that was free before the paid plan launched was moved behind it. Every pricing change we have made is dated at /pricing/history.
Does Clipy add a watermark to recordings?
No. Clipy never watermarks the video, regardless of length or how it was recorded. The recording you upload is the recording your viewer sees.
Do viewers need to sign up to watch a Clipy recording?
No. Anyone with the share link can open the recording in a browser without creating an account. Clipy links are unlisted by default, so only people you send them to can find them.
How is Clipy different from Loom?
Loom caps each free recording at 5 minutes, watermarks them, prompts viewers to sign up, and paywalls MP4 download and AI. Clipy caps neither the length of a recording nor the format you get out: no watermark on any plan, no viewer signup, free MP4 download, and AI summaries and transcripts included free. The shape of the free tier differs — Loom allows 25 recordings of up to 5 minutes each, Clipy allows 15 recordings or 2 hours total, so Clipy suits fewer, longer recordings and Loom suits more, shorter ones. The trade-off elsewhere is fewer enterprise features and a smaller team behind it.
