ABOUT · LAUNCHED 2024

Record it once. Humans watch it, agents fix it.

QUICK ANSWER

Clipy is a free, no-watermark screen recorder for Mac, Chrome, and the web. You hit record, stop, and a share link lands in your clipboard — no signup, no time cap, no app to install for the person watching. Built by Codersera as the recorder we wished existed.

What is Clipy?

Clipy is a free, no-watermark screen recorder that runs in three places: a native Apple Silicon app for macOS, a Chrome extension for screen, tab, window, and webcam capture, and a browser-based recorder at clipy.online that works without an install. It is built and operated by Codersera.

Every recording produces an instantly shareable link. The viewer never has to sign up to press play. There is no time limit, no watermark, and no viewer signup wall — these are not feature-gating decisions, they are how the product is shaped.

Why does Clipy exist?

Loom and its imitators have quietly turned the basic act of recording your screen into a paid feature. You hit a 5-minute cap. You get a watermark in the corner. Your viewer is asked to sign up before they can watch the thing you sent them. None of that has anything to do with the recording itself — it is friction in a tool that should be invisible.

Clipy is the recorder we wanted instead. Hit a hotkey on your Mac, pick a window in Chrome, or open the web app — record, stop, and a share link is in your clipboard. No watermark. No length limit. No login wall for the person watching.

How is Clipy different?

Five operating constraints we hold ourselves to. They show up in every product decision.

01

Unlisted by default

Only people with the link can open a recording. Delete a clip and it’s gone — for you and for anyone holding the link.

02

No watermark, no time cap

Every recording is unlimited length and unbranded, regardless of who you are — the core flow is the same for everyone.

03

No signup wall for viewers

The person receiving your link presses play. They are never asked to create an account before they can watch the thing you sent them.

04

Native where it counts

Apple Silicon Mac app, a real Chrome extension, and a browser-based recorder. Not an Electron wrapper pretending to be three products.

05

One link, generated instantly

Stop recording and the share URL is already in your clipboard. The hop from “I want to show this” to “here is the link” is one keystroke.

Who builds Clipy?

Clipy is built by Shubh, founder of Clipy, and the team at Codersera. It sits inside Codersera as a small, founder-led product — no fundraising, no growth team, no dark patterns to fund.

That choice keeps the surface area small and the roadmap honest. We keep the core flow free, so we never end up gating the record-and-share flow behind a paywall.

BACKED BY CODERSERA

CoderseraCodersera

Clipy launched in 2024, but the team isn't two years old. It's built inside Codersera — an engineering services and developer-tools company that's been shipping software for over 10 years, both for clients and as in-house products.

That history is the reason Clipy isn't a 6-month side project. It isn't a venture-funded experiment that disappears when the runway does. It's shipped, paid for, and maintained by a team that's been doing this for a decade — and intends to keep doing it.

How did Clipy start?

Clipy started as a personal frustration. We were sending short walkthrough videos to teammates and customers every day, and every tool we tried added a paywall, a watermark, or a signup wall on the receiving end. The recording itself was not the hard part — the friction around it was.

We built the recorder we wanted: hit a key, record, stop, share the link. Three surfaces — Mac, Chrome, web — so we could use it wherever we already were. No watermark even on the free flow, because there is no other flow.

Frequently asked questions about Clipy

Is Clipy free?

Yes. The core record-and-share flow is free — no time limits, watermarks, or signup wall, and every recording uses the same flow regardless of length or count. If we ever add an optional Pro for power users, what you use today stays free.

Does Clipy add a watermark to recordings?

No. Clipy never watermarks the video, regardless of length or how it was recorded. The recording you upload is the recording your viewer sees.

Do viewers need to sign up to watch a Clipy recording?

No. Anyone with the share link can open the recording in a browser without creating an account. Clipy links are unlisted by default, so only people you send them to can find them.

How is Clipy different from Loom?

Loom caps free recordings at 5 minutes, watermarks them, and prompts viewers to sign up. Clipy has no time cap, no watermark, and no viewer signup — the trade-off is fewer enterprise features and a smaller team behind it.

Where does Clipy run?

Three places: a native Apple Silicon menu-bar app for macOS, a Chrome extension that records screen, tab, window, or webcam, and a browser-based recorder at clipy.online that works without an install.
